AUGUSTA, Maine
A Maine lawyer is going to jail for 10 days for failing to pay state income taxes for six years. Alan Harding, 58, of Presque Isle was sentenced Friday in Kennebec County Superior Court. He must report to the Aroostook County Jail Dec. 27. Harding was convicted in June of failing to file and pay his taxes from 2005 through 2010. Prosecutors said his annual income ranged between $140,000 and $225,000. Harding’s attorney, Walter McKee, said Harding has paid all state taxes and fees he owed. McKee argued for a suspended sentence, saying Harding otherwise has led an exemplary life. (AP)![]()
