DURHAM, N.H.—Nick Sorkin's goal and assist proved to be the winning edge as the University of New Hampshire defeated No. 20 Maine 3-2 on the Wildcats' home ice in a Hockey East matchup.
UNH's fourth consecutive win Saturday night, all at home, leaves the Wildcats with a 4-4-1 record overall and 3-3-0 in Hockey East. Maine is now 3-4-1, 3-3-0 HEA.
UNH goaltender Matt Di Girolamo recorded 13 saves in both the first and second periods en route to a 31-save effort that included a heavy shelling in the final minutes of the game as Maine desperately attempted to tie the game. Maine goalie Martin Ouellette stopped 10 shots in both the first and third, and made 25 saves overall.
