SKOWHEGAN, Maine—Sappi paper company is investing $13 million to upgrade coated-paper manufacturing equipment at its mill in central Maine.

Officials with Sappi Fine Paper North America say the company is rebuilding Paper Machine No. 3 at the Somerset mill in Skowhegan. The upgrade aims to improve the machine's manufacturing performance, reduce costs and broaden the range of products it can produce.

The upgrade is slated for completion next fall.
