ORONO, Maine—President Barack Obama's first national security adviser will speak at the University of Maine this week.
James Jones will be guest speaker Thursday at this month's William Cohen Lecture at the Orono campus. Tickets are free.
Jones, a retired U.S. Marine general and Vietnam veteran, became supreme allied commander for Europe in 2003. He retired from the military in 2007. Jones' term as national security adviser ran from January 2009 through October 2010.
The lecture series is a function of UMaine's William S. Cohen Center for International Policy and Commerce.![]()
