Maine sex offender facing new charges
BANGOR, Maine—A Charleston man who's already a registered sex offender in Maine is facing new charges.
Carey Gonyer was indicted Thursday by a federal grand jury on three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor in the production of pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.
The 43-year-old Gonyer was indicted in December by the Penobscot County grand jury on 10 counts of sexual abuse of a minor in related incidents.
The state and federal charges involve one male victim who was 15 years old when the alleged crimes took place.
The Bangor Daily News (http://bit.ly/ywgUfp) reports that Gonyer was sentenced in U.S. District Court in December 2006 to 2 1/2 years in federal prison for possession of child pornography. He was released in July 2008.
