Missing Maine toddler's dad disputes police claims
WATERVILLE, Maine—The father of a missing Maine toddler is disputing police statements that he and others who were in his Waterville home when his daughter disappeared haven't been forthcoming.
Ayla Reynolds was 20 months old when she was reported missing in December by father Justin DiPietro.
Maine State Police spokesman Steve McCausland has said DiPietro, his girlfriend and his sister haven't been forthcoming about all they know about Ayla's disappearance. Last weekend, he said the three had stopped talking to police.
DiPietro tells the Morning Sentinel (http://bit.ly/H2Yrqx) that if communication has stopped, it's because questions they ask police don't get answered.
DiPietro says he's offered tips and theories about Ayla's whereabouts to police, but follow-up attempts with investigators have gone nowhere.
McCausland on Friday said he stands by his previous statements.
