Body of 32-year-old canoeist found in Maine river
BOWDOINHAM, Maine—The body of a Portland man whose canoe capsized while he was fishing has been recovered from the Cathance River in Bowdoinham.
Sgt. Daniel White of the Maine Marine Patrol says members of the Maine State Police dive team recovered the body of 32-year-old Santana Dubon around 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
White tells The Portland Press Herald ( http://bit.ly/KVO0tL) that Dubon's body was found upstream from the Route 24 bridge, near Bowdoinham's downtown. He appears to have drowned.
Dubon was in a canoe with his wife and her cousin when their boat capsized around 7:30 p.m. Saturday. The others made it to shore. White says Dubon was not wearing a life jacket.
The Cathance is a 16-mile-long river that flows into Merrymeeting Bay.
