Maine Memorial Day observances set
AUGUSTA, Maine—State officials say Memorial Day observances are planned at four Maine veterans' cemeteries.
A wreath-laying ceremony will take place in the Veterans Affairs National Cemetery at Togus at 8 a.m. Monday. Also in Augusta, a Memorial Day ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. at the Mount Vernon Road cemetery.
In Caribou, a ceremony at Northern Maine Veterans' Cemetery on Lombard Road begins at 1 p.m. Monday. At 1 p.m., an observance will be held at Southern Maine Veterans' Cemetery on Stanley Road in Springvale.
State officials say the flag should be flown at half-staff from sunrise until noon Monday, then raised to the top of the staff until sunset in honor of the nation's battle heroes.
Veterans are also urged to pin on their military medals on Memorial Day.
