Springfield man killed in motorcycle accident
A Springfield man was killed Saturday night when his motorcycle slid into an oncoming car, Springfield Police said Sunday.
Louis Gonzalez, 33, was riding west on Wilbraham Road around 9:30 p.m. beside another motorcyclist, when a car coming from the opposite direction made a left-hand turn in front of the bikers, said Springfield Police Captain William Collins.
Both motorcyclists dropped their bikes to avoid crashing, but Gonzalez and his motorcycle slid into the car, Collins said.
Gonzalez was transported to Baystate Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The second man was not seriously injured, Collins said.
Both men were wearing helmets, Collins said. No charges had been filed as of Sunday evening, but an investigation was still under way, Collins said.
