The Board of Health has banned the sale of all tobacco products in local pharmacies. The ban went into effect July 1. The pharmacies did not fight the regulation, which was passed after a June 21 Board of Health hearing. The Reading Coalition Against Substance Abuse's Youth Crew was instrumental in getting the local ban passed. Municipalities statewide began passing bans on tobacco products at pharmacies about three years ago. Boston was the first community to implement such a measure. The Reading Board of Health will be checking on the local pharmacies to ensure they are in compliance.  end of story marker
