Officials are reviewing public comments on the town's proposed All Hazard Mitigation Plan. The plan identifies potential natural hazards that could impact the community and details the actions local leaders are taking to reduce or mitigate them. The plan does not address acts of terrorism or manmade disasters. The town is required to have a plan in place to qualify for certain grants through the Federal Emergency Management Agency. In 2007, the town’s plan was approved by FEMA and the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency, and regulations require the plan be updated every five years. The proposal is an update of the original plan, which is set to expire in September. To view the draft, visit winchester.us.
