Town officials have begun preliminary talks to create a plan to alleviate traffic congestion on Route 3A, also known as Lowell Road. Traffic has become problematic in recent years after local corn fields and pastures were developed into shopping malls, supermarkets, and discount stores. The Planning Board devoted a recent meeting to the congestion and discussed conducting a study of traffic on Route 3A and surrounding roads, but did not define the parameters of such a study and deferred further discussion to the board’s meeting on Sept. 12.
