The Board of Health recently announced that the town has acquired a kiosk for the safe and legal disposal of syringes, hypodermic needles, and lancets by town residents. As of last month, it is illegal in Massachusetts to discard medical sharps in household or commercial waste. The town’s kiosk is in the Fire Department’s headquarters at 40 West Central St. No loose needles, syringes, or lancets will be accepted; all items must be placed in approved containers, which residents can obtain at some pharmacies and larger businesses in the area. For more information, call the Board of Health at 508-520-4905.
