The state Executive Office of Environmental Affairs has approved the city’s updated Open Space and Recreation Plan. Park rehabilitation, new park development, and better access to public lands are key goals outlined. Improving the city’s ecological character and developing a facilities management plan are also priorities. The state requires communities to have current plans to be eligible to apply for grant funding. The city had not updated the plan since 2001.
