Silvia Serrano of Stoneham was recently appointed director of community relations at Northern Essex Community College’s Lawrence campus. In her new position, Serrano will serve as a liaison for the college in Lawrence and its surrounding communities, cultivating relationships with community, ethnic, civic, and cultural groups. Serrano, who is bilingual, will also be responsible for leading community service projects for Northern Essex student volunteers. She holds a master’s degree in public health with a concentration in behavioral and social sciences from Boston University’s School of Public Health, and a bachelor’s degree in community planning and service management from the University of Massachusetts Boston. Serrano brings more than a decade of supervisory experience as well as experience in program planning and management, database development, management and analysis, fund-raising, and grant writing to her new role at Northern Essex.end of story marker
