Selectmen have agreed with a recommendation from the Page School building committee that will enable the approximately $10 million project to move on to its second, more comprehensive, phase. The board recommended that the Pentucket Regional School District award the project’s second phase to Lynn-based Deiulis Brothers Construction, which submitted a bid of $6,162,700. According to building committee chairman Brad Dore, the budget for the second phase was $5.92 million, but bids were about $240,000 over that. The committee worked to cut $1 million from the project, and still has a 4 percent cushion in the budget for contingencies, he said. The project’s first phase included work on the building’s windows, roof, and HVAC systems, while the second phase will include work on a new gym and cafeteria, as well as renovated administrative offices and facade and other upgrades and finishing work. Selectmen also voted to put an item on the fall Town Meeting budget asking voters to approve $128,700 to restore some items eliminated from the project.end of story marker
