Patrons of the Morse Institute Library with outstanding fines can clear them up while supporting the Natick Service Council until Aug. 31. Food for Fines allows library customers to cover fines for overdue returns by donating nonperishable food items; the program isn't valid for lost or damaged library materials, however. The council says its food pantry is in particular need of cereal, jelly, tuna, hamburger helper, canned fruit, juice, coffee and tea, toilet paper, shampoo, and toothpaste. When possible, plastic jars are preferred over glass.
