Mayor Carlo DeMaria Jr. recently appointed two new department heads. Michele Karas was named to head two departments, as new parking clerk/hearing officer and information technology director, while Ed Mastrocola takes over as the new 911 director. Both appointments were confirmed by the Board of Aldermen. Karas comes to Everett after nearly 19 years working for the town of Winthrop, where she served as parking clerk, director of information technology, and assistant chief financial officer. Mastrocola previously worked as an agent for the federal Drug Enforcement Administration and held other positions within the US Justice Department. end of story marker
