Applications for Mattapoisett’s senior tax work-off program are available at the town clerk’s office at Town Hall and the Council on Aging. The program allows residents 60 and older to work for various town departments and get reduction of up to $750 on their property tax bill. Past participants must complete a new application this year, officials said. The Mattapoisett property must be the applicant’s primary residence and all property taxes must be in good standing. Applicants must also agree to a criminal background check, provide their own transportation to work, and complete an ethics questionnaire. The program runs from Nov. 1 to Oct. 31 and the abatement for work is credited on the following year’s tax bill. Applications are due Sept. 7. For more information, contact the town clerk's office at 508-758-4103, ext. 2.
