The Melrose-Wakefield veterans community is scheduled to hold a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 21, at the Wakefield World War II Memorial on the upper Common in Wakefield in honor of National Prisoner of War and Missing in Action Recognition Day. The ceremony is open to the public. It is being held to remember the 83,000 Americans who took part in our nation’s conflicts but never returned home or received a proper burial.
