The Mansfield Mural Committee  has launched a campaign to raise $50,000 for the mural planned for the Route 106 underpass. Local businessman Peter Fontanini, owner of Fabric Care and several buildings in town, helped kick off the campaign with a $5,000 pledge. To date, other mural sponsors include businessman Joe Gonsalves, David Boilard of Car Pros, HarborOne Credit Union,  and the Massachusetts Cultural Council. The mural, featuring scenes from Mansfield’s history, is part of the revitalization of the train station area and Mansfield’s North Common and downtown. Artist Ian Gaudreau, a 2000 graduate of Mansfield High School, was chosen to paint the mural based on a photo montage he submitted to the Mansfield Mural Committee. Donations of all sizes are welcome. Those who donate at least $100 will be invited to help with the painting of the mural, working alongside local artists.
