RAYNHAM, Mass. (AP) — The pastor of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church in Raynham says he has no ill will toward whoever stole a three-foot tall statue of the Virgin Mary from church grounds.
In fact, he and his parishioners are praying for them.
The Rev. John Murray tells The Enterprise of Brockton (http://bit.ly/P7CGuj ) that a church maintenance worker noticed that the statue was missing last Thursday. It was reported to police.
Murray calls the theft ‘‘irreverent,’’ but he asked the congregation to pray for the thieves on Sunday.
The statue stood on a pedestal surrounded by bushes on the rectory grounds.
Murray did not know how much the statue as worth.
