The Police Department has openings for its firearms safety course on Wednesday from 5  to 9 p.m. at the Police Station, 210 Boston St. Individuals interested in fulfilling the Massachusetts requirement before applying for a Firearms Identification Card or License to possess or carry a handgun may attend. There is no charge for Topsfield residents. Nonresidents will be charged $50 and are asked to bring a check to the class made out to the “Town of Topsfield.”  People interested in the class should e-mail Police Chief Evan Haglund at topsfield101@verizonesg.net with contact information, including name, address, e-mail address, phone number, and date of birth. Applicants will be notified if they have been accepted for the class.end of story marker
