Scituate’s Corse Foundation will host its 7th Annual Corse Gala event Oct. 27 in an effort to raise money for special education programming. It is one of the organization’ss two biggest events in the year, and organizers hope to raise approximately $18,000 at this year’s gala, said Tracy Johnston, president of the Corse Foundation, which is an abbreviation for Community of Resources for Special Education. This year’s event will feature Boston comedian Jim McCue, who has performed on Comedy Central, Comcast Comedy Spotlight, and NBC’s “Last Comic Standing.” The event will also feature the annual Compass Award, which this year will be presented to Jennifer Vitelli, Scituate’s director of recreation. “There is no question that it should be her,” Johnston said of Vitelli. “She has done so much to get integrated special needs programming into Scituate. Corse would never have happened without her.” For more information on the gala, visit www.corsefoundation.org.   end of story marker
