A seven-member board is conducting a search for a lawyer to serve as Cohasset’s next town counsel. The search committee, headed by attorney Martin Desmery, is sending candidates an application with questions about relevant experience, how fees and expenses are charged, and asks them to detail their municipal law and litigation experience. Responses must be received by Oct. 17, and applicants will be interviewed from mid-October to mid-November. Selectmen plan to make an appointment by the end of the year. The town counsel job opened up when selectmen dismissed Robert Troy in May after 26 years on the job. The town is suing Troy for legal malpractice.
