Starting on Oct. 2, Winchester will be implementing zero-sort recycling with Casella Waste Systems Inc. Under the town’s new contract with Casella, Winchester’s transfer station will convert to the single-stream service that puts less trash into landfills. Winchester’s goal is to increase recycling and make it easier for people at the transfer station. Residents will no longer have to sort or separate their discarded items — it will all go into the same bin. However, materials should be rinsed and free of food. For more information on the types of materials being accepted, visit the town website at winchester.us.   end of story marker
