Quincy Community College has been awarded a $2.9 million federal grant to expand job training in the state through local employer partnerships. The community college will use the funding for its Biotechnology and Compliance Program —  which focuses on training in Bristol, Middlesex, Norfolk, Plymouth, and Suffolk counties — to meet the needs of the biotechnology industry. The award was among the $500 million in federal grants given to colleges and universities nationwide for the development and expansion of training programs. “This strategic investment will enhance ties among community colleges, universities, employers, and other local partners while ensuring that students have access to the skills and resources they need to compete for high-wage, high-skill careers,” said US Labor Secretary Hilda L. Solis.
