After his two-month stay, Kevin was able to go home and begin his outpatient treatment plan that required regular tips to the clinic for chemotherapy and steroids. He now has a good prognosis and is focusing on transitioning away from treatment and back into his routine, which will include plenty of PC hockey games this winter.

Team Impact, which works with 170 colleges in New England, will host its first Game Day Gala at the Westin Waterfront in Boston on Oct. 4. Visit www.goteamimpact.org for information on the event.

Outstanding goalies

Braintree’s Matt Bagley  was named Player of the Week in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference after leading the Bridgewater State soccer team to a win and a tie last week. The junior goaltender made nine saves in a scoreless tie with Worcester State and turned back two shots in a 2-1 victory over Rhode Island College. . . . Duxbury’s Sophie Fitzpatrick , a freshman goalie on the field hockey team at Lehigh, earned Rookie of the Week honors in the Patriot League after two stellar performances. She allowed just one goal in the final 39:50 of a loss to Sacred Heart and then made six saves in a 2-1 win over Monmouth Sunday.
