Abington football coach honored

Jim Kelliher,  head football coach at his alma mater, Abington High, since 1974, will be honored Oct. 14 as the school’s Alumnus of the Year. The dinner, which begins at noon at the Monponsett Inn in Halifax,  raises money for scholarships.

Kelliher posted his 200th career win in 2010, for which he was honored as the New England Patriots high school coach of the week. He guided the Green Wave to Eastern Mass. Super Bowl titles in 2002 and 2005.
