Last week’s Town Meeting approved funding for two community preservation projects,  providing $3,000 to purchase signs for 14 unmarked, historical burial grounds, and $5,150 to conduct an assessment of the town’s historic records. The sign proposal was presented by the Friends of Middleborough Cemeteries, which noted in its application that early settlers, historic leaders, and veterans from the American Revolution, War of 1812, and Civil War are buried in the unmarked cemeteries. Regarding the effort to preserve the town’s historic records, Town Clerk Allison Ferreira said the funding would assess what needs to be done to preserve records at town hall, its annex, the police station, and the fire station.    end of story marker
