The mayor’s garage selection committee has chosen the Worth Lot as the best site for the city’s next parking structure. The property near the corner of Hanover Street and Maplewood Avenue is owned by the city. Plans call for a 600-space garage with commercial space on the ground floor. The project would require the purchase of the Coldwell Banker building and another small adjoining property. Two other sites for the proposed garage, the McIntyre Federal Building on Daniel Street and a privately owned parking lot on Deer Street, were considered by the committee, but were not selected because they are not owned by the city.
