The Peabody Institute Library of Danvers is holding a fund-raising gala, A Night at the Library, on Nov. 10 from 6-10 p.m. at the library, 15 Sylvan St. Proceeds from the event, the first gala to be held at the library in 26 years, will be put toward replacement of the building’s aging furniture and draperies, according to Alan Thibeault, library director. Thibeault said most of those items date to the last major interior renovation of the library in 1980, and are showing their age. Thibeault said funds raised will allow the library to begin replacement of the furniture and draperies, which he estimated will cost $70,000 . Meanwhile, the library is planning to purchase a new circulation desk in the children’s room using some $17,000 raised in a separate private fund drive. A black tie-optional event, the Nov. 10 gala will feature hot hors d’oeuvres, buffet stations, drinks, and musical entertainment. There will also be a live/silent auction, Tickets are $50 and can be purchased at the library or on its website, www.danverslibrary.org.
