BREWSTER, Mass. (AP) — The Cape Cod home where renowned nature writer John Hay once lived has been put on the market for $1.4 million.
Hay died in 2011 at the age of 95, four years after his wife, Kristi, passed away.
The Cape Cod Times reports (http://bit.ly/RiMlgW) that their children have decided to put the 3,000-square-foot house on 56 acres in Brewster on the market.
Hay wrote acclaimed nature books including ‘‘The Run’’ and ‘‘Nature’s Year.’’
The house was built in 1949 after Hay purchased land in the town.
The home is remote, and reached by a twisting driveway that runs through the woods for a half mile. But it wasn’t remote enough for Hay, who moved to Maine in 2005 when the Cape became too crowded for his tastes.
