The School Department is seeking volunteers to serve on a new School Wellness Advisory Committee . All school districts are required to form such a committee under state legislation adopted in 2011. Its function is to serve as an advisory committee to the school superintendent on how to enhance teaching of health and wellness, and how to address local health issues affecting the school community. The department is looking for two parents, a student representative, and other community members to serve on the committee. Anyone interested in serving is asked to submit a letter of interest by Thursday to School Committee member Corinne Riley at criley@saugus.k12.ma.us; School Committee chairwoman Wendy Reed at wreed@saugus.k12.ma.us; or the office of School Superintendent Richard Langlois. Appointments will be made by the superintendent.
