LAWRENCE, Mass. (AP) — A Lawrence woman accused of starving two dogs to death has been charged with animal cruelty.
The Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals announced Monday that 26-year-old Raisa Reyes will be arraigned on Nov. 28 in Lawrence District Court.
The MSPCA says when investigators went to Reyes home on Oct. 4, they found a terrier that had been dead for at least a week, and an emaciated pit bull mix that was dehydrated, approximately 30 pounds underweight and later had to be euthanized.
The Eagle-Tribune (http://bit.ly/RT9bfq) reports that investigators say two children were also living in the apartment, which was filthy and smelled of dog waste.
Reyes said the dogs would not eat.
