Approximately 200 residents approved all nine articles in less than an hour at Lynnfield’s Special Town Meeting on Oct. 15. Among the articles approved was one that reauthorized $90,000 to buy a senior center van (the money was originally part of a sum allocated for a fire truck, but the purchase price was lower than anticipated), and another that accepted 103 acres donated by National Development for open space, a golf course, and passive recreational uses as part of the agreement for the Market Street at Lynnfield mixed-use development. Another article approved will require applicants for certain licenses to undergo a fingerprint background check. Those would include solicitors, canvassers, liquor licensees, taxi operators, secondhand article or motor vehicle dealers, hawkers and peddlers, and ice cream truck vendors.
