The Board of Selectmen voted unanimously last week to hire Scott Boothby as the Fire Department’s new chief, pending formal agreement on a contract. “I believe our intentions are the same and that the negotiations will be successful,” said the board’s chairman, Tom Twining. Boothby is a captain in Ashland’s Fire Department, where he serves as the training, operations, and fire prevention officer, according to the department’s website. It also says he is an emergency medical technician and attended the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy.
