In response to concerns expressed by residents over a perceived increase in the number of ticks and tick-borne diseases noted in the community, the town’s Board of Health, working in collaboration with nursing and medical students from the University of Massachusetts Medical School, is conducting a survey to explore local attitudes about and knowledge of Lyme disease and other illnesses associated with ticks. The anonymous survey is available at Town Hall and Gleason Public Library, or online at www.surveymonkey.com/s/Carlisle_Tick2012. Residents are encouraged to take the survey regardless of whether they have firsthand experience with tick-borne illnesses.
