The North and South Rivers Watershed Association will recognize some area volunteers during its 42d annual meeting, set for 7 p.m. Friday at South Shore Natural Science Center. John Zarella will receive the organization’s Volunteer of the Year Award for his efforts to build a boardwalk at Marshfield’s new South River Park. The Barbara Pearson Award, given to an individual or group helping to further the association’s mission, will go to Scituate Water Department superintendent Jim DeBarros, water operations manager Rick Mosca, and public works director Al Bangert for their efforts to restore water flow and herring to First Herring Brook. The evening will feature light refreshments and a presentation by Margaret Kearns and Sara Grady entitled “Restoring Herring to First Herring Brook.”
