The Malden Reads Committee has selected a 2007 National Book Award-winning young adult novel for its third annual Malden Reads selection. “The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian,” by Sherman Alexie, chronicles the story of a youth who leaves the Washington State Indian reservation where he grew up and eventually becomes the only person in his new community with a Native American background. Copies of the book will be available for sale next Saturday at the Temple Tifereth Israel Crafts Fair. The Malden Reads program selects one book for residents to read, in an effort to promote literacy, the library, and community.
