A new Stop & Shop supermarket will be opening at the Wayland Town Center mixed-use complex at 6 a.m. Nov. 16. The 45,000-square-foot store at 400 Boston Post Road is expected to use up to 20 percent less energy than a typical grocery store of its size, company officials say. It will also feature electric car-charging stations in its parking lot; some 600 rooftop solar panels, which are expected to supply about 11 percent of the store's overall energy needs; and LED parking lot lights that use half the energy of traditional lighting fixtures.
