Residents have an opportunity to learn more about early Tewksbury history from local schoolchildren. On Wednesday, about 20 fourth-grade students from the North Street and Trahan elementary schools will perform the Tewksbury Patriotic Play at the Wynn Middle School auditorium. Open to the public, the play will start at 7 p.m. Its story focuses on Tewksbury’s role in the battles of Lexington and Concord on April 19, 1775. The play also depicts the arrival of the first settlers in the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Tickets are $5 ($3 for seniors and school-aged children) and will be sold only at the door. The play is a collaborative effort between the Tewksbury Historical Society and the Tewksbury Community Education program. The production is a revised version of a play that was previously performed annually for 14 years in two of the town’s elementary schools.
