The town transfer station has special Sunday hours. The facility, at 15 McKay Ave. off Swanton Street, will be open to residents (no commercial haulers) from noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays through Dec. 2 for leaf and brush collection only. Residents must have a residential sticker. Disposal of certain items, including plastic bags, pots, containers, household waste, rocks, lumber, and Christmas wreaths, is strictly prohibited in the leaves and brush area. Violation of these rules may result in loss of the privilege to use the transfer station. The leaf area accepts leaves, grass, pine needles, weeds, pumpkins, house plants, flowering plants, and mulch. In the branch area, residents may dispose of items that will go through a wood chipper, such as brush, shrubs, limbs, logs with a diameter no larger than 5 inches, and Christmas trees. For more information, call 781-721-7178.
