Town will vote on planned school renovations

Dracut will hold a special town election on Dec. 11 to vote on a $3.4 million debt exclusion to cover its share of planned renovations to Greater Lowell Technical High School. The decision to put the issue to a vote was approved during a recent Town Meeting in which the school’s superintendent, Mary Jo Santoro, outlined the proposed renovations. Items within the $65 million plan include repairs to the building’s roof, improved handicap accessibility, upgrades to the heating and ventilation,  fire, and electrical systems, an additional cafeteria, and updated science labs. The complete plan requires approval from all four of the technical school’s member communities — Dracut, Dunstable, Lowell, and Tyngsborough — by the end of January.
