The Peabody Institute Library’s young adult department is teaming with the ArcWorks Community Center in downtown Peabody to offer a new Art Activists Club for teens. The club will meet Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. at the main library, 82 Main St. The kick-off meeting is Tuesday. Art Activists is free and open to all youths 11 through 18 who want to use their art to make a difference in the world. The intent is to provide them a forum to talk, learn, and carry out projects on subject for which they have passion. Writing, painting, music, theater, dance, poetry, film, crafts, zines, fashion, graffiti, and all other types of art will be explored and created. Teens who participate in club meetings and projects can earn volunteer or community service credits from their schools. For more information, or to sign up, call Melissa Robinson, the young adult librarian, at 978-531-0100, ext. 14.
