MENDON, Mass. (AP) — A Massachusetts high school’s cheerleading squad has been banned from performing at the traditional Thanksgiving Day football game because they were caught drinking alcohol and two of them landed in the hospital.

Police say about 12 members of Nipmuc Regional High’s cheering squad attended a sleepover at a home in Mendon last Friday.

Bill Ambrosino, the homeowner whose daughter is on the team, says one girl brought a bottle of vodka and they also got their hands on booze he left in a cooler and forgotten about. He called 911.

Police tell WFXT-TV (http://bit.ly/TbGafS ) they investigated and decided not to bring charges because none of the adults in the house knew about the liquor.

The team was banned from a Wednesday pep rally and Thursday’s game against Blackstone Valley Regional.
