The town’s annual winter parking ban will begin on Saturday, Dec. 1. All vehicles must be parked off-street between 1 and 5 a.m. Vehicles parked on the street will be subject to towing, a fine, or both. The fine for a winter parking violation is $50. Overnight parking is also prohibited in municipal parking lots, including those on Friend, Main, and Water streets, and school and library lots. Residents of the downtown business area may apply for a special permit for parking privileges in designated municipal parking lots. The permits are available from the town clerk’s office in Town Hall. During snow emergencies, all vehicles must be removed from city streets, regardless of the hour. Snow emergency announcements are broadcast on television and radio.
