The annual tradition of the Macy's post-Thanksgiving tree lighting in Boston continued to thrive this year as hundreds of people attended the event Friday night.

This year's holiday tree was placed atop the marquee at Macy's Downtown Crossing location.

Pictured: Evan Theroux, 9, of Smithville, R.I., wearing the Santa hat, was among the crowd of revelers at the ceremony.

Norell Campos, 14, and her brother, Jiuver, 16, of Chelsea, came out to take in the sights at this year's holiday tree lighting.

Fans greeted singer Michelle Williams, formerly of the Grammy award-winning pop group Destiny's Child, who serenaded the crowd during the tree lighting ceremony and Macy's store holiday window display unveiling at Downtown Crossing.
