The University of Massachusetts Lowell and Raytheon’s Integrated Defense Systems business are exploring a partnership with Gulf University for Science and Technology of Kuwait. With a signed memorandum of understanding in place between the three parties, a 2013 feasibility study will focus on the creation of undergraduate and master’s degree programs in sciences, engineering, and business, with an emphasis on experiential learning, technological development, and entrepreneurship. The goal of the collaboration would be to provide students an opportunity for global academic and research experiences, while helping Kuwait to expand beyond its oil-industry-based economy toward more engineering and business. The University in Kuwait was established in 2002 through a partnership with another US college, the University of Missouri St. Louis. end of story marker
