Bridge dedicated to longtime selectman

The bridge over the Forge River on Route 44 was dedicated to Donald McKinnon on Dec. 1 for his service to his country as an Army corporal during the Korean War, and to the town as a longtime selectman. McKinnon was a member of a reconnaissance unit in Italy for two years while in the military, returning home in 1954. On the home front, he holds the distinction of being Raynham’s longest-serving selectman, having spent 39 years on the board, from 1973 to 2012. State Senator Marc Pacheco, a Taunton Democrat, and state Representative Angelo D’Emilia, a Bridgewater Republican, were on hand Saturday to congratulate McKinnon for his years of service. McKinnon, who is 79, said afterward that he is more than a little familiar with the bridge that now bears his name, crossing it six times a week while on his 2-mile walk.
